Murray Hardy was one of the extensive Swanage Hardy family related to the renowned Thomas Hardy.  He was a still photographer taking pictures of equipment for reports and manuals, visiting dignitaries etc.  He used both 35mm and a quarter plate speed-graphic camera when high detail was needed.
