Dr Allen carried out the original theoretical work on wave-guides for use in radar systems. He told me that this has never been reported elsewhere so the dissertation in the Penley Radar Archives folder is of unique significance. 

He was a member of Group 8 in TRE that was led by Herbert Skinner and contained many who achieved high eminence in the field of science.
