Abstract: |
Sqn Ldr Frank Hayward has included accounts of several very interesting events that
happened at the aerodrome.
1. Two Frenchmen stole a German training aircraft and landed at RAF Christchurch
without harm. Pages 2-32.
2. Harry Hopkins, President Roosevelt's Aide landed there on his return from Lisbon.
This describes the civil link that was maintained by mutual consent but cost the life of
Leslie Howard the British Film star. Pages 33-41
3. A Boeing was provided by the Canadians to be fitted with AI and was a very valuable
addition to the fleet. Pages 42-45
